Article Retraction & Withdrawal

The Global Journal of Management (GJMGT) is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and reliability of the scholarly record. This policy outlines the procedures for retraction, correction, and withdrawal of published and submitted articles, in accordance with the best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Principles of Scholarly Integrity

All parties involved in the publication process including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher are expected to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct. Any form of research misconduct or publication malpractice will be addressed promptly, transparently, and consistently to preserve the credibility of academic communication.

2. Article Retraction

Retraction is a formal mechanism for correcting the scholarly record and alerting readers to publications that contain significant errors or ethical violations. Retraction may be initiated by the editors, authors, or publisher under the following circumstances:

  • Clear evidence of data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation
  • Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism and redundant publication
  • Serious methodological errors that invalidate the findings
  • Unethical research practices, including violations of research ethics standards
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest that materially affect the interpretation of the research
  • Legal or copyright infringements

Retracted articles will remain accessible on the journal’s website to maintain the scholarly record but will be clearly labeled as “Retracted.” A formal retraction notice will be published, detailing the reasons for retraction and linked to the original article. The retraction process will be conducted transparently and without defamatory statements.

3. Article Correction (Erratum and Corrigendum)

Corrections are issued when errors are identified that do not invalidate the overall results or conclusions of the article. Corrections may include:

  • Erratum: Correction of errors introduced by the publisher
  • Corrigendum: Correction of errors made by the authors

All corrections will be clearly documented, linked to the original article, and indexed appropriately to ensure transparency and traceability.

4. Article Withdrawal (Pre-Publication)

Article withdrawal applies to manuscripts that are under editorial review or in the production stage but have not yet been formally published. Authors may request withdrawal under the following conditions:

  • Significant errors discovered in the manuscript
  • Duplicate submission to another journal
  • Ethical concerns identified prior to publication

Withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author, accompanied by a valid and clearly justified reason. The editorial board reserves the right to evaluate and approve or reject the request. Unauthorized withdrawal or failure to communicate may result in sanctions, including temporary submission bans.

5. Expression of Concern

In cases where serious concerns arise regarding the integrity of a published article but conclusive evidence is not yet available, the journal may issue an “Expression of Concern.” This notice will inform readers of potential issues while investigations are ongoing.

6. Investigation Procedure

All allegations of misconduct will be handled following COPE guidelines. The investigation process includes:

  1. Initial assessment by the editorial board
  2. Communication with the authors for clarification
  3. Consultation with reviewers or external experts if necessary
  4. Final decision based on evidence and ethical standards

The journal ensures that all investigations are conducted confidentially, fairly, and without bias.

7. Post-Retraction and Indexing Policy

Retraction notices and corrected articles will be properly indexed and linked in all relevant databases to ensure transparency. The metadata of retracted articles will remain available, with clear indication of their status, to prevent misleading citations.

8. Author Responsibility and Sanctions

Authors are fully responsible for the integrity of their work. In cases of proven misconduct, the journal may impose sanctions, including:

  • Rejection of current and future submissions
  • Notification to affiliated institutions
  • Public disclosure of ethical violations when necessary

9. Policy Enforcement

The editorial board of the Global Journal of Management (GJMGT) enforces this policy consistently to uphold academic integrity, ensure transparency in scholarly publishing, and maintain the trust of the academic community.
